My memories from Latvia- Magda
I heard a lot about trips, organized by the European project Socrates Comenius. Each of participants brought a lot of impressions which filled me with interest and curiosity. Agnieszka Strugala, Sabina Klis and I took part in a December edition, this time in Latvia. Certainly, we had to work very hard to deserve this trip, but I admit, it was worth it!
It was a week full of attractions. We all were delighted with Latvians’ hospitality, especially those who were our hosts (for me It was Nelda Zhukovska). We were given an enthusiastic welcome. It began with a dance performance prepared by kids of different age. We had lots of fun, especially when the students invited our teachers to dance with them. We acquired a different kind of knowledge about water and Latvia every single day. I have a pleasant memory of journeys at the Baltic Sea where we spent time having fun all together and to Riga where unfortunately we had to say goodbye. It was a very sad moment because we made friends with each other and the week passed so fast…
Our hosts were preparing some attractions for us every day. We were being taken to the shops, restaurants and to the matches of basketball played in a sports hall. To be honest the only shop in Kanadava worth mentioning was a supermarket, Elvi, where we went every day.The school organized a disco and an unusual volleyball match with towels.
We spent a lot of time on entertainment, but it doesn’t mean we didn’t have to work. We were cooperating with Latvians we were assigned to. We did some research of water in various places on Kandava and after that we had to make presentations about the research we had done. I think the best day was Thursday. It was the day of our presentation about enterprises which each of groups ha to make. Our performance was the longest one but it also was the funniest one. Everyone was laughing!
Now a few words about other participants: the hosts, I mean the Latvians are great. They don’t care about weather, they always have some good ideas how to spend their free time and have a sense of homour. I made friends with Slovenian girls: Ana – Marija, Tanja and Teja, with whom we spent plenty of time. The Turkish guy, Gorkem and the Italians (Luca, Andrea and Giovanii) were also incredible. Although we had some problems to speak in one language, we were really getting on well with each other.
The time came to say goodbye and it was full of tears. But we’re still in touch and we’re planning to meet as soon as possible.
